Many years ago I ended up trapped inside a multiplex cinema after a late showing of a movie. It was creepy as fudge. So, it inspired a screenplay that a while later had me on the phone to horror legend Robert Englund (expecting that tongue to come out of the phone like in ELM ST) as he pitched to me why he wanted to do the movie. He had me at hello… I wrote the film for him.

Inspired by ONE HOUR PHOTO, THE LAST SHOWING features Englund as a disgruntled projectionist who traps a couple inside a multiplex cinema and uses them as unwilling actors in his own horror movie he’s creating via CCTV. Yep, it’s that meta.

We also set out to make a studio quality film on a low budget… bored of all British horror thrillers looking the same. Colour, gloss and cinematic was the goal… not handheld, drab and rainy.

The film was critically acclaimed (mostly!) and had its World Premiere as an official selection at Film4 FrightFest in Leicester Square, London. The film was made independently and sold to Sony Pictures, Lionsgate US and was released on Netflix.

It even had a cool Japanese release with an excellent poster!
